Jal Mahal
Spend an evening at Jal Mahal- Jal Mahal in Jaipur literally translates itself into “Water Palace”. Located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake it is probably the most serene place in Jaipur. Built in 1799 by Madho Singh It was the abode of the royals during summer and hunting trips. Built in the traditional Rajasthani Rajput architectural style with pink sandstone the palace appears to be a single story. But in reality there are four submerged levels. The solid stone walls hold back water with the lime mortar preventing water seepage for over 200 years. Some say the palace looks even more beautiful glistening in the water at night. The beauty of the palace is such it seems to be floating upon the water. You should try and visit the place during a full moon evening to get the full essence of this palace on the water.
