City palace
Blending elements of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture City Palace located in the heart of Jaipur is a marvel and a must-see. It was developed in the grid-style with gardens, courtyards and buildings with various structures as the ‘Chandra Mahal’, ‘Mubarak Mahal’, ‘Diwan-I-Khas’ and the ‘Govind Dev Ji Temple. The Chandra Mahal palace now converted into a museum is the most beautiful part of the palace and is still a royal residence. The different palace buildings were built in different times, but there is a natural symmetry to it. There are many entrances to the palace, but some of the significant gates are the ‘Udai Pol’, ‘Jalebi Chowk’, ‘Tripolia Gate’ and ‘Virendra Pol’. It has all the elements of Mughal architecture- murals, lattice work, and mirror work with rich decoration. You can a feel the bygone era inside the palace.
